Day 5 (30th July 2027) – Visit Edfu and sail to Luxor to visit Luxor Temple |
||
Today sail to Luxor. Luxor, on the site of ancient Thebes, is on the East bank of the Nile and was the pharaoh's capital at the height of their power. It is described as the world's greatest open–air museum, but that comes nowhere near to describing this extraordinary place. Nothing in the world compares to the scale and grandeur of the monuments that have survived in this ancient city. Visit Luxor Temple , largely the work of Amenhotep III and Ramesses II the Great (whose colossi and obelisk stand at the entrance) and home to the small 'hanging' Mosque of Abu al–Haggag.
