One of the Caribbean's most affluent and laid–back islands, Grand Cayman makes a perfect cruise call. Tenders take guests straight to the capital, George Town, which is easily explored on foot. Get a taste of the island's history at Fort George, which dates from 1790 or plunge 100 feet beneath the waves to view Dayglo–coloured fish, spectacular underwater mountains and elaborate coral formations through the big windows of a submarine. You can get even closer to the marine life snorkelling around Stingray City or meeting the inhabitants of Turtle Farm near the pretty town of Hell, a short drive away from Georgetown cruise port and a popular place from which to send postcards. Before your ship leaves, make time to browse George Town's bustling Craft Market and offbeat boutiques. Look out for Caymanite, a brownish–pink semiprecious stone unique to the islands.

A scenic drive takes you south of the island, passing though the historic South Sound area and Smith Cove, before continuing along the coast. During the drive your driver/guide will provide you with interesting facts about the island. |
||
Your first stop is Pedro St James Castle, often referred to as the birthplace of democracy in the Caymans, following its role as the meeting place of the first elected parliament in the Cayman Islands. Constructed in 1780, and later restored in 1996 to its original 18th century style, Pedro St James Castle is the oldest existing building in the Cayman Islands. During your visit, discover the wonderfully restored buildings, charmingly overlooking the Caribbean Sea, take a stroll through the beautiful gardens, and perhaps browse the gift shop for souvenirs. You'll also have the opportunity to experience the effects of a real life thunderstorm at the multimedia theatre. |

Round off your tour at the Queen Elizabeth II Botanical Park. Spread across 76 acres of natural and manicured grounds, the park boasts wonderful displays of native flora and fauna, as well being home to the Blue Iguana, which can only be found in Grand Cayman. |
